Teacher training workshops

Technology is evolving rapidly, and schools are increasingly emphasizing STEM education, investing more resources to enhance the learning of technology among primary and secondary students.

Many schools have already implemented classes that teach students relevant programming skills and apply them in everyday life. Teachers and students also widely use micro:bit in various competitions to achieve great results.

However, micro:bit has some inherent limitations, leading many schools to spend time purchasing additional sensors, servo motors, and expansion boards to enhance its functionality. While teachers create tutorials and design different application scenarios, they also need to prepare sufficient and user-friendly accessories to meet teaching requirements, which can be quite demanding.

In response, our team regularly holds teacher workshops based on our experience in developing technology education curricula and school support, along with product development experience. These workshops equip various teachers to quickly learn about technology knowledge and the latest educational tools, enabling them to effectively teach students practical skills.

Micro:bit IoT Smart Home Teacher Workshop – Learning real-life applications through scenario-based learning; Learning to use the AI Voice Assistant with voice control.

In Hong Kong, the application of Micro:bit as an educational technology tool is becoming increasingly widespread. Many schools are actively promoting programming education and integrating it into daily life. With the popularity of Micro:bit, teachers face challenges in creating tutorials and preparing teaching materials. To address these issues, Smarthon has launched the Micro:bit Smart Home IoT Creation Kit, combining technologies such as smart home, Internet of Things, and voice control.

In January 2025, Smarthon will hold the 'Micro:bit IoT Smart Home Teacher Workshop,' allowing teachers to experience this creation kit firsthand. They will learn how to master programming skills related to smart homes, the Internet of Things, and voice control, further enhancing their ability to effectively teach students about smart home concepts and practical skills, while boosting their interest in learning and programming!

1. 【2021】AiTLE x Smarthon : IoT & SmartCity Workshop through micro:bit

The application of micro:bit in STEM education has developed rapidly, with many schools teaching programming through micro:bit. Additionally, governments around the world are starting to incorporate smart cities into their development plans, utilizing technology to improve the quality of life for citizens.

In response, Smarthon has developed the Smart City IoT Starter Kit for micro:bit, using smart cities as a 'context' to engage students in learning about the Internet of Things, sparking their interest in programming while aligning with societal technological advancements.

In August 2021, Smarthon collaborated with AiTLE to hold a physical workshop, allowing teachers to experience using the Smart City IoT Starter Kit and micro:bit to assemble a smart city model.

In recent years, governments around the world have started to incorporate smart cities into their development plans, using technology across various sectors to improve the quality of life for citizens. Therefore, utilizing smart cities and the Internet of Things as a 'context' to engage students in learning programming and problem-solving can not only spark their interest and motivation but also align with societal technological advancements.

In August 2022, Smarthon once again collaborated with AiTLE to hold a physical workshop, allowing teachers to experience using the Smart City IoT Starter Kit and micro:bit to assemble a smart city model. This provided more educators with the opportunity to experience smart city scenario design and learn how to teach the concepts of smart cities to students, integrating it into the regular curriculum framework.
